A few weeks ago we’ve been shooting the luxury Saint James Hotel & Club. The victorian building has recently been renovated by the award-winning interior designer AMJ Design, from Berlin.
Fine handmade silk wallpaper, black lacquered furniture, hand crafted Murano glass chandeliers and gold leaf ceilings provides the place with a refined albeit warm atmosphere.
The St. James’s Club has a long and distinguished history. It was founded in 1857 by the English aristocrat Earl Granville and Marchese d’Azeglio, a Sardinian Minister and was intended as a London base for travelling diplomats. Its original home was in St. James’s Street and as well as an international clientele it attracted a number of important members of the British upper classes such as Lord Randolph Churchill and Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. The new design of the place successfully echoes its history.

Last week we had a great time documenting the Textfields Project, a site-specific installation by Amita Kulkarni, Jerome Rigaud,
Rajat Sodhi and Vikrant Tike commissioned by the Shoreditch based art/event space, The Corridor.

It will be installed from the 7th – 21st May 2009 and is the first of a series of physical manifestations
of an ongoing exploration for TextFields.
